為了彰顯對他的推崇故尊稱他為老子；
依次類推孔子本名是孔丘，
儒家學派的創始人，
絕對是大聖大賢之人，
由此可見能用子作稱呼的都是當時的大賢之人，
在當時都是具有影響力的人
